Pulitzer Prize winner and the winner of other awards, the author of «Angel City», «Curse of the Starving Class», «A Lie of the Mind», «Savage Love» and «States of Shock», Sam Shepard is no less known as a scriptwriter for «Zabriskie Point» (dir. M. Antonioni), «Fool For Love» etc. And this is not all: Sam Shepard is a director and an actor who played in dozens films, including «Frances», «Resurrection», «Steel Magnolias», «Days of Heaven».
«Ages of the Moon» is the second New Drama’s attempt to stage the works of the outstanding playwright, the living classic of American literature. His «True West» had been performed for two years with a great success here and received several prizes at the theatre festivals.

«It so happened that the destiny drew us together with Shepard in New York; we had been talking for two hours, and then he proposed me his new play Ages of the Moon that even had not been published in America and gave me exclusive rights for its performance in Russia.
Ages of the Moon fascinated me from the very first pages. Two elderly men in their seventies... I would say they are aged characters of Shepard’s «True West» that we perform in our theatre — they sit in the terrace and talk... about nothing particular, you cannot tell exactly what it is at the beginning. But then they have so heavy electric charges between them, the voltage is so high, that the meaningless talk turns out to be the outcome of two friend’s lives. The outcome of their LIFE in general.
