О спектакле

You can only be surprised with the fact that every turn in the social life has the corresponding play of Ostrovsky, dedicated specially for this state of the society.
The play «The Rich Brides» was published in the literary magazine «Otechestvennye Zapiski» exactly 135 years ago, in the February of 1876.
Living in the mirror-world of bellyful and prosperity it is hard to imagine another life. The common desire to keep up with the times of big money and TOTAL satisfaction relinquish the hope not to be infected with the aspirations of the majority. Who cannot resist the temptation?
The evenings in the country outside Moscow... The dachas have always been not only the place of rest, but also the place of the non-typical encounters of different people with different backgrounds. In those places, where the well-to-do citizens live in the summer, where a not so old general hires a dacha for his niece, who later happens to be a foster child, and still later... however there is no point to disclose the secrets that will be revealed on the third day only . The meeting with a young and aspiring office employee Tsiplunov (he is considered to be «unworldly» although) may bring back their common past with Valentina (so is the name of the foster niece), and also change the lives of all inhabitants of this dacha community outside Moscow. Isn’t it a comedy when prosperous and well-to-do people turn out to be poorer than those in need, and those who easily part with unheard sums of money feel themselves more happy than beggars?
